Default Eve Online News

The most recent news for Eve Online reflects on the hard work of the CCP staff and our deepest desires for spaceship combat.

Tech 3 ships.

What does this mean to us? Imagine being able to fly a spaceship, and it doesn't quite meet your needs. It isn't powerful enough, or stalwart enough to provide a really immersive combat experience. Instead, it explodes when eyed by dangerous Asteroids. This would be considered the "Tech I" version of most ships, they just don't have the punch needed to take care of business.

After a long and grueling trial, up to an including trudging through near pvp-less Empire space, you find yourself finally able to pilot an elite spaceship, capable of conquering worlds and enslaving entire races. This is rightly called "Tech II". More advanced and resilient than Tech I ships, these provide a more robust space-faring existence for some.

Still, at the helm of an advanced fighting craft, capable of decimating dozens of other pilots before finally falling on the battlefield, you find something missing. It isn't fast enough, or its too unwieldy, or despite its massive potential for bloodshed, you want to step over the broken corpses in style.

Enter Tech III.

You've climbed into a craft similar to ones you've had before, only this one is different. It's not really as advanced, or powerful as the elite ships you are used to flying. In fact it's pretty useless in it's current state. So you head off to the market to customize it to fit your needs inside the scope of that hull configuration.

Need a fast warpdrive? You betchya, gotta catch them freighters. Then select and purchase the one you need, and fit it to your ever modular vessel.
Want some serious firepower? OF COURSE! Pickup an advanced gunnery subsystem to show those frigates who's boss.

In summary, Tech III ships give you the ability to modify and fine tune your playing style, without building on the extreme "advanced" training time of some Tech II ships.

Want a particular missile boat to fire lasers instead? Sure, step on over to the market and laugh like a mad overlord that we know you all do as you commit ship equipment fitting heresy. Want your ship to look like an angry, angry, mean old man while you carebear your way through an asteroid field? Sure, we got that. Want your head to spin around while vomiting pea soup at an Amarrian Reverend? Dude, whats your problem?
