![]() Sometimes I just want to punch people. People like those responsible for making hellgate "non-lan"able. To make matters worse, as we all know hellgate london is dead. Although it appears Blizzard software distributor Hanbitsoft Inc has taken the intillectual rights to the game they will not be supporting non asian servers. They will in fact be making an expansion rumoured to be titled "Second Invasion" though I think the actuall title should be Hellgate-South Korea. If I had any say in it, when Namco decided to turf hellgate and all the people who paid the outragous price for an incomplete product they had a responsibility. Considering the technology was there to begin with they should have released a lan patch. Maybe not the source, they obviously cut a deal to get some money back or something. I think the bank might have taken them for everything I don't know and I don't care. I want my lan patch. The minimum I deserve as a paying customer, is a Single Player Patch to update offline content to the current online content. ![]() There is some good news though. Hellgate-Australia is an open source project that appears to be rebuilding hellgate in the ogre 3d environment. With any luck this will in fact allow home users with some decent internet pipes to serve home brew hellgate to the world. Let's face it, with a little tlc this game could really come alive. Also it would be nice to see a few dedicated home user's do with no funding what flagship studio's couldn't do with considerable financial backing. Not that Im bitter or anything. as an "Aplha/Beta tester" for this game as brought in on it by flagship studio's i would like to add a comment onto this game.
as for what it was, it could of been a great fps/mmo thought attempting to bring a diablo style system for items/skills wasnt one of their best idea's, the game lacked big time in the mmo feel for it, once you were in a map there was no feel of MMO or having other people in the map with you, it was similar to their other game mythos, where you make a party in the main town, then go out into the map. great concept for a game, decent graphics, actually felt like a fps. but lack greatly in the multiplayer aspect. |

It is free it's not closed. It's not beta. It's a project working towards rebuilding Hell gate as an open source 'clone' as such. Cone meaning a direct replica of the oringinal + extras. Lets face it, a little spit and polish wouldn't have gone astray with Hellgate.

I wish people would got to hte article in referance and raed the information. I laymans terms, its an Open Source (FREE) project that seeks to remake Hellgate london from the Hellgate london game. It is not a new game, it is not in beta. Just go to the site and have a look. It only takes a few seconds to learn something instead of asking the same generic questions voer and over.
