Star Sonata - Game|Gravity

Heya, sometimes people have asked for a nice science fiction MMO so I thought I'd toss this up here.

Star Sonata is a MMOAG (Massively Multiplayer Online Action Game)/MMORTS
in a sense with space trading. It's been around for a number of years now however its remained a niche game for most of the years its been online compared to EVE.

Fully persistent player characters and ships with a random universe generation every few months. I've played it off and on for a number of years now and I have to say if you're a Sci-fi kind of person and tired of WoW Clones you might like it.

# Space Trading Game. Discover profitable trade routes.
# Create "slave" ships to fight at your side or to run trade routes.
# Build bases to mine moons or planets, build items from blueprints, create and control colonies on suitable planets.
# Create a team and vie with other teams for universal dominance.
# Deploy drones either in the heat of combat or to protect your galaxies or trade routes.
# The ultimate prize: be crowned emperor and rule the universe!

Currently Top Down 2D but a Top Down 3D client has had rapid paced development over the past year and its expected to be released in the future soon. Movement and combat is Asteroids - like and is done with WASD / Space bar.

I played this game for a few weeks. It was totally fun, although the community was dead.

maybe this new 3d client will revive the playerbase?
