When i was, a younger man I seem to recall a game known as tribes. I played tribes a little but found it lacking against my then favorite UT. However when the gem known as Tribes 2 hit the scene I was lost. Plunged into a world of three dimensional combat, vehicles and strategic teamplay of a depth as yet un matched by anything; ok arguably Team Fotress 2 might rival but Im still betting Tribes has it hands down. The sheer scope of a game played on a map size that puts most RTS games to shame and yet allows for intense close combat fighting that makes counter strike seem like duck shoot.
Enough nostalgic imagery. Hot ont he heel's of Quake live (Something I have as yet, not played. A self enforced restriction to prevent my total absorbtion into the internet as a digital entity.)
Tribesnext is exatcly that. Tribes... next. Browser puling... ok theres a moment of doubt right there, but I've played good plugin fps games and I've seen the technology emerge as more than a simple gimmick. Cross platform support, insane user base and account based historical stats. First person Shooters don't come any better, untill you add the aforementioned depth of strategy and sheer scale involved in Tribes 2.
Don't mine me, i'll be heading over to
Tribesnext and getting my disk on. Just you wait. Oh yeah, did I mention it's free.
