Question Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott?

I was catching up on the most interesting bit of news for one of my new all time fav games Left 4 Dead, when I came across this link.
(Steam: tsoshadow)

L4D2 Boycott

The manifesto is very thought out and actually sums up my feelings toward the new game. And that is with out some of the comments users made!

One in particular: "I won't pay $50 for half the content the first game had especially when I still have some much fun playing L4D now. I've grown attatched to these characters and don't want to part from them only after a year of zombie genocide. The content being put into this questionable sequel is more on par for a DLC in the first place" - Rєаv08 posted on June 10, 2009 @ 10:56am

Anyone in GG support this boycott? Join up and help em out!

Here are some videos of Valves market low blow once they learned zombies make $$$?... and maybe a video of what the game already looks like to follow... and you can compare your selves.

Some Valves Counter Points?:
Some points covered...

Something to worry about is how L4D's community will fair when everyone goes for the newer version?

Im not familiar with what your talking about, bet your arse I'll be looking into it. I was somewhat surprised when I saw the anouncement for L4D 2. Not simply becuase L4D hasn't been out very long but becuase valve has proven that it's a company supporting it's player base. It didn't release TF3, it made TF2 what it should have been. I bought TF2 when it was young, fresh and incomplete. I say incomplete becuase TF2 was not incomplete, it was without polish and lacked what has made a agme that took my free time and made it TF2 time into a game that will take my future and make it a TF2 future. TF2 is a game that will stay with me the way CS1.5 has stayed with those that continue to play it years on from it's inception.

I bought L4D with the same expectation, valves announcement of L4D2 has simply shattered my conception of the company. Broken the silent agreement I thought I had with valve as a distributer of enetertainment.

The announcement of L4D2 has simply taken the money and time I have invested in L4D and used it to bend me over.

I'm a sucker for punishment. I followed ID software into the dark pit's of Doom 3 and continued into the punishment that was Quake 4. I bought Madden 9 in the hopes it would give back to me what the previous version had removed, (I took Madden back EA no longer holds any power over me.) and I will sure as hell follow valve into that dark place should it take me there (Portal, curse you why were you so awesome.) I simply hope it won't, I prey they won't make the same money grabbing mistake that every company we had once grown to love does.

L4D imho has the opportunity to be a franchise that will on an unprecedented scale rival counter strike. That's no small task. However, should valve begin the round robin rollout of sequells they will lose what credibility they have gained over the previous years (Steam was not so well recieved as people would have you think.)

So Valve, will you kill the chicken that lays the golden egg ?

I think it would have been alot more interesting if they could show it from a military perspective, a small group of soldiers and what they went through during the whole ordeal.

Im a huge fan of L4D. I think though there is a lot of flaws with it. Its a blast and its fantastic to watch, this could be a breakthrough for American competitive gaming. But there are too many flaws spectator mode blows theres a lot of imbalance and to much luck involved. From what ive heard l4d two was designed to take some of that away its meant for competitive gaming and trying to open it up in that sense. well see maybe its a money ploy and itll blow.

I had so much fun playing L4D, but L4D2. I think it should just be an extension pack. the article about the 2nd one said, there are going to be new weapons and a new infected. they should make just an extension pack

I remember hearing somewhere that if you purchased the original l4d through steam you would get a discounted price on l4d2, but I'm not too sure if thats a fact or just a rumour

meh. L4D wasn't even 1 year old I think when they first announced L4d 2. Back in my country, its pretty wide-spread in the internet cafes and mostly everyone played it. I wished they handled it better and kept their commitment to the L4D community. Ah well, back to Tf2 lol
