![]() Developer Capcom Publisher Capcom Designers Jun Takeuchi (chief producer) Kenichi Ueda (director) Masachika Kawata (producer) Haruo Murata (writer) Engine MT Framework (enhanced) with Havok Physics Platform PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Release dates JP March 5, 2009 NA March 13, 2009 PAL March 13, 2009 Genres Survival horror Third-person shooter Mode Single-player, online and offline co-op Rating BBFC: 18 CERO: D ESRB: M OFLC: MA15+ PEGI: 18+ USK: 18 Media DVD-DL, BD-ROM Gameplay Jun Takeuchi, the game's producer, said that Resident Evil 5 will feature similar gameplay to Resident Evil 4. The player will control Chris Redfield similarly to how the player controlled Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 4, with the same over-the-shoulder perspective. The game's environment will also play a significant role. The Mercenaries minigame, which was featured in both Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4, will make a return in Resident Evil 5. The game will also feature new types of enemies. The extended E3 2007 trailer revealed several sequences involving Redfield attacking hordes of fleet-footed enemies, who possessed melee weapons. Takeuchi has also stated the game's enemies will also possess human-like intelligence and awareness. Furthermore, he stated they will be different from the previous ganados. Takeuchi said that they have "greatly increased the number of weapon variations" compared to the previous games in the series, while the requisite handguns and shotguns also return. In an interview with XBOX360ISM, Keiji Inafune stated that the game will feature some online elements. Resident Evil 5's main story mode can be played with two players, in a co-operative online mode. The feature will allow players to enter or leave anytime during the game. Players will not always stick together, and can be separated at points during the gameplay. Trailers at Tokyo Game Show 2008, revealed an "offline co-op mode." This mode delivers the same co-op experience as offered by the online co-op mode, only with two local players controlling the action in split screen. ![]() [source: Wikipedia]

Good game... Played the demo... But after that.. I had experienced all I wanted to... Good If you enjoyed RE4 and wanted to play it with a buddy.(or random person off net that probably can't talk)
Then this is great! But as a whole... Doesn't seem entirely exciting story wise. And the combat can be a bit much for new players and not knowing the lay out of the land. And then there is those lovely ways to get screwed into almost 1 hit kill situations... Or simply unsure what ur suppose to be doing at a given time... And the quick time events... I wonder when developers will realize they shoot them selves in the foot for such systems. Because this new system ought to piss off some players who use the online feature with random joiners. They actually have quick time events where each player must rely on the other to perform the quick time event on time! Bad enough we have to do it our selves.... now you must rely on some dude to be paying attention to the cinematic. (which often they don't as I can tell from demo players) Other wise... I like the new system... unlike 'ZeroP' who thinks each item must have it's own size and 'pockets'... I like the new system... it's pretty quick and to the point... make choices of what weapons work for you and how much gun space to health you'll need... I took buying Fallout 3 over it thou... (Thou I was screwed out of the DLC it still is good) |

My cousin said that it's a possibility that Capcom deliberately made the AI of your partner stupid to somewhat force you to use 2P.
I love how they placed a heavy emphasis on teamwork. And the fact that I feel panic playing it despite that it's set in broad daylight.

If only I had a PS3. Thanks God for the price hack. For now I play RE5 with a cousin's Xbox 360 and its controllers take a while to get used to. My hands are programmed for the PS controllers.

Played with my little brother for a few hours when I last went home. Just isn't my cup of tea. The gameplay seemed "ordinary". The graphics were good, but nothing that I would write home about in this day in age.
Just my 2 cents worth! Toofliss |

I thought it was a pretty good game. I've been following all the RE games since the original for PS1. This game was made well, I loved the gameplay and the story but nothing about this game was memorable especially the characters.
It also didn't feel like a Resident Evil game anymore, I hope i'm not sounding too negative about it. Just being honest, although I did enjoy the game it just felt different. I also play it online competetively, iv'e stopped recently due to work and family but it is a lot of fun. |
