I was thinking about it, but Im waiting for 8 gig of ram before I bother. I need a new monitor before I replace my current ram and I need a new desk before a new monitor etc... etc... It could be a while.

I got my eight gig of ram the other day. unfortunately M$ announced they will not be moving to RC2 for windows 7 and so I'm not going to bnother installing R1 and having it time out before I can get a realistic feel for it. I'll be waiting for it to hit the shelves. REviews speak highly of the OS though if you look between the lines there are still some glaring failures of the windowws OS being carried over from Vista. At least we can see a real improvement from 32bit to 64bit in intensive usage. Finally a reason to justify my eight gig and quad core.

Windows Vista. its pretty slow even for my new computer. i think the OS eats too much RAM.

i love my linux OS in my other PC. very fast with little or not bugs at all.

I think Luinux is the future. unfortunately I dont like Ubuntu or gnome. And KDE has really lost out on its desktop development lately. Although thats not realy true. Ubuntu is big and uses gnome. So KDE gets forgoten even though it now has a Windows KDE setup. Wich is awesome.
Still Vista is actually quite fast on my machine. It utilises my 8 gb properly, handles my dx10.1 and allows me greater stability when things crash. The fact that it lets individual pices fail and I can recover without har dresets I love. Unfortunately the sound subsystem fails a lot more than I'd like. Wich is the prtoblem I had with debain... So it comes down to dx10 games. Im gonna install Windows 7 either this week or next. I think it will be worth a revview.

Personally, you are better off with XP. Vista is such a resource hog. As for as Vista compatibility, the only real issue is video drivers, but most of the problems are pretty much gone now.
