Default Facts are awesome - people Are Stupid

Sometimes you just have to look into things to udnerstand how rediculous stuff is. I'm not one to bag out someones religion. Still when 'x' religion says that people cant do something becuase its related to 'y' religion thats not on.

Also when 'x' religion that may or may not be christianity try's makes it illegal not to teach 'creationism' in schools becuase of some weird legal crap... forget it and just read the wikipedia entry. You shall be enlightened. We shall all worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster and know the truth about pirates and gloabal warming. Just click here

but for fun her's a few quotes.

Quote:
"I think we can all look forward to the time when these three theories are given equal time in our science classrooms across the country, and eventually the world; One third time for Intelligent Design, one third time for Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, and one third time for logical conjecture based on overwhelming observable evidence."
Quote:
According to the Pastafarian belief system, pirates are "absolute divine beings" and the original Pastafarians.[4] Their image as "thieves and outcasts" is misinformation spread by Christian theologians in the Middle Ages and by Hare Krishnas. Pastafarianism says that they were in fact "peace-loving explorers and spreaders of good will" who distributed candy to small children, and adds that modern pirates are in no way similar to "the fun-loving buccaneers from history." Pastafarians celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19.
Quote:
Bryan Killian, a high school student in Buncombe County in North Carolina, was suspended for wearing "pirate regalia", which he said was part of his faith. Killian protested the suspension, saying it violated his right to religious freedom.

Dont want to start a holy war, but as a Christian I must say.... look at the whole story. There are some really bad "Christian" role-models out there that the media looks at and bases irrational conclusions upon but Christians like me don't force our religion and tell people they are going to hell because it's not loving and we aren't called to do anything but enlighten others, they can make their own decisions and we respect it.

As for the kid suspended for wearing pirate stuff, if it's disruptive to the learning atmosphere at the school he should have been suspended. Same for any Christian or anyone else disrupting the learning environment.

Sry Josh. Don't mistake my amusement at someone sticking it to a few idiots in the education system for having a go at christianity.

I think all people should be free to there ideologies. However that staement explains itself well enough. All people. I do agree that it is somewhat wrong to teach creationism as a science.

I don't agree. There were several students at my school who wore robe's or hat's or whatever becuase of religious reasons. This kid has as much right as them to look 'differant' from the allowable norm. Chances are the kid was being a jerk. Still I see it as a form of expression. Meaning that under the freedom of speach he should have been allowed to get away with it. Without knowing what fully transpired it's hard to say wether the school had a right to expell him or not. If he turned up to his physics finals in pirate regal and a talking parrot thats being a jerk. If he ran around during smoko with a feather sword thtreatening to make people walk the plank, he's probably got a right to his social commentary.

Before you make a point about disrupting the learning environment wich is a valid point I'll just say a simple thing I've learned working for the education department (In my country albeit).

The single greatest disruption to the learning environment in the modern education system is the Bureaucracy that now defines the education system and it's process. Learning and the students that utilise the system has become second to the administration that govern the system.
